Amado

Praia do Amado can be found in Carrapateira village which is in the Alentejo Natural Park on the Vicentina coastline and remains as one of the few places in Europe that is still virgin. The strong currents that flow, alternating between the deep beaches with rugged cliffs make this area, today is one of the most popular destinations in Europe. It is precisely this extreme configuration that creates the huge variety of surf conditions there. Wave quality varies considerably according to the deposition of sand and the quality of the sea bottom. Generally very consistent. The peaks nearer the car park have a larger crowd. its sandbanks are stable and don't change too much despite the strong storms. It is one of the most consistent beachbreaks on this wild coastline and in the summer it is one of the safest bets as its orientation allows enough swell to enter without it being too affected by the typical Portuguese north wind which is pretty constant during the summer. To reach the beach take the dirt track along the sea from Bordeira beach. It has several Surf Schools and many surfers of all nationalities during the summer.
